Funny Faces

Back in the early 90s my goal was to become a comic book artist, but when a friend of mine introduced me to 3D studio (the DOS version, not Max), everything changed. 3D graphics has been an emerging technology at that time and even though learning resources were very limited, I knew that this was exactely what I wanted to do in my life. 3D character design is one of the key disciplines that requires both artistic skills and highly specialized knowledge. It’s technically demanding but at the same time a lot of fun!
Here’s some of my creations:

3D characters

Below a selection of characters I've created is shown, some of them are quick explorations, others were used in commercial productions.

Case study: GASAG polar bear

With this project I wanted to put my then favorite 3D software MODO through it's paces by doing it all on my own: Modeling, Texturing, Shading, Fur, Rigging, Animating, Lighting and Rendering.

2D / Vector art

Although I love vector graphics for their simplicity, I've been mainly drawn to the creation of 3D characters.
I've always been keen on mastering different design techniques and artistic styles though, just like an actor who can embody a wide range of different characters. Below are just a few examples of hand-crafted 2D styles.
